Chalk About #2 is the continuation of Christine Devaney and Leandro Kees’ creative relationship that began on the first Fresh Tracks Europe encounter (Utrecht, November 2011) where Christine and Leandro were “put” together to work for 10 days. As they went about getting to know each other, through talking and dancing together, they began to explore and question the nature of identity.
How do we define ourselves and others? Is it where we’re from? How we talk? With language? How we dance? Our pasts or our futures…? Does everyone like pizza?
Christine and Leandro continued to ask these questions of themselves and a group of local school children in Edinburgh, who contributed to the evolving design of the work, along with designer Karen Tennent.
